FTTO (Fiber To The Office) is a networking technology that provides high-speed fiber connectivity directly in offices or workplaces. Aginode (former Nexans), one of the leading manufacturers of fiber optic solutions, has developed products and systems that support this technology.

    • It is about extending the optical fiber directly to offices or workplaces.
    • It is used to replace the traditional copper network (Ethernet) with an optical infrastructure.
    • It provides high speed, low latency and greater reliability compared to conventional networks.
    • Supports speeds that can reach and exceed 10 Gbps (depending on configuration).

  • Architecture:
    • Fiber optics end up in small Fiber Switches located close to end users (e.g. in each office).
    • It is more adapted for interior use in large buildings or organizations.

FTTO advantages over conventional copper wiring

  • Simple and flexible network structure with fiber optics and high bandwidth
  • Quick and easy installation of wiring, reduction of up to 60% of cable volume (therefore lower Fire load in the building)
  • No grounding and electromagnetic interference problems
  • There is no need for floor allocators, so we save space, cost, energy, as well as maintenance of equipment such as air conditioning, UPS, security systems
  • Future Proof. As copper cabling standards change on average every 10 years, due to technological developments, fiber optic cabling has a multiple lifespan
  • Industrial microswitches, with high MBF, fanless
  • The control, programming, updating, customization is done centrally for all microswitches either in total or in groups through an NMS platform, compatible with all active equipment manufacturers
  • Increased network security. All encoding engines such as IEEE802.1x, SNMPv3, HTTPs, SSH & SCP are supported
  • Power over Ethernet (POE). Direct power supply from the microswitch to VoiP phones, cameras, access points, etc.
  • It incorporates the features of Intelligent patching. Any interruption or breakage of an optical fiber wiring link or an interconnected copper cable causes an alarm
  • The system provides real-time power consumption measurement of microswitches
  • In the unlikely event of a failure, the microswitch is immediately replaced by simply transferring the memory card from the old to the new microswitch. Downtime is limited locally to max 3-4 users
  • Easy and fast expandability, with the ability to connect a second microswitch simply using a copper or fiber optic cable
  • The solution is ecological and green. All passive equipment materials are halogen-free, while achieving energy savings of up to 70%. (Energy Efficient Ethernet)
  • The cable infrastructure & microswitches of the FTTO system are transferred in case of transfer to another building!
